The Original Delta County Lavender Farm

Pause Lavender Farm was established in 2019 on the Stonington Peninsula in Rapid River, Michigan, after years of studying lavender, comparing growing regions, and considering which varieties might perform best in Delta County’s northern climate.

The farm was planned long before the first rows were planted. After years of preparation and working two jobs to make it possible, I was finally able to begin. Growing lavender and building a life around a different pace was a deliberate change, not an afterthought.

Today, Pause Lavender Farm is a certified Michigan small-scale nursery and Delta County’s original lavender farm. We continue to study, test, and observe lavender varieties in real Upper Peninsula conditions, learning from each season rather than assuming every cultivar will perform the same way here.

The farm remains intentionally small. Our lavender grows alongside woods, wildlife habitat, native plants, pollinators, and a USDA-recognized pollinator garden. We have chosen quality, stewardship, and continued learning over simply planting as many rows as possible.

Rooted on the Stonington Peninsula and grown in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Pause Lavender Farm reflects both where we came from, Frankfort in Will County, Illinois, and where we are now, Rapid River in Delta County, Michigan. Just as importantly, it reflects our respect for the land around us and everything that depends on it.
